Well maybe there is greed too, but framing it as the corruption of fear is a more useful construct or paradigm, I think. There’s always been greed, but there hasn’t always been this level of dysfunction either, and do I think you may be on to something Matt. And our current election system is at the root of it. How can we shorten the campaign season to lengthen the governing season, to allow legislators to actually learn to trust each other a little more and give them the time and space to reason through to better legislative decisions.

And The Sting is one of the best movies ever made.

It’s not greed? Really? Problem in Washington is the fact that many think that as public servants they are entitled to just about everything. That includes token positions on corporate boards that pay for political influence and Wall Street firms that don’t require any expertise from the DC crowd, just access to the average taxpayers hard earned retirement dollars as well as cushy corner office, with title to go along with. ( no experience required for that $1,000,000 salary though. Just the Rolodex.

As we found out couple weeks ago, most billionaires don’t pay taxes ! Think the DC elites have anything to do with that?
